MIDDLETOWN — Crack cocaine, fentanyl and Clonazepam pills allegedly were found when officers pulled over a driver for allegedly running a stop sign, according to a police arraignment report.
The Nov. 23 stop took place as Sgt. Jorge Yepes followed a man, later identified as Calvin Spivey, 55, of Middletown, whom Yepes had seen enter and exit a Pearl Street house in a short period of time, according to the arraignment report.

Officers Mark Lemieux and Nathan Peck arrived on the scene a short time later, the report said. According to police, Yepes noticed the man carrying a black shoulder bag and asked if there were drugs in it. The man allegedly replied “yes,” the report said.

Yepes tried to remove the black bag from Spivey’s shoulder and Spivey told him to just cut it off, according to the report. Peck cut the bag off of his shoulder and while inspecting it allegedly found heroin packaging, units of crack cocaine and $40, the report said.

The report said Spivey also directed officers to another bag next to a passenger seat in the vehicle and that it allegedly contained heroin paraphernalia and three green-colored pills, later identified as Clonazepam.
The report said a full search of the vehicle revealed it also contained fentanyl, wax paper heroin folds and suboxone strips, while the passenger also allegedly possessed fentanyl.
Spivey and the passenger, identified as Courtney Holmes, 48, also of Middletown, each are charged with three counts of narcotics possession, two counts of possession and intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to obey stop sign and operating a vehicle without a license, according to police.

Holmes and Spivey each are freeon $150,000 non-surety bonds and are scheduled to appear at Middlesex Court on April 16, 2021, according to the report.
